Every three years, construction industry professionals gather for North America’s largest construction trade show. This year’s CONEXPO-CON/AGG is held in Las Vegas with over 2,000 exhibitors featuring the latest equipment advances and newest technology applications for every aspect of construction.

One of the major exhibitors in the show is Liebherr, a leading North American provider of construction equipment. The company is celebrating their 50th year of manufacturing in the United States and, in addition to an impressive tradeshow display, Liebherr will be publishing the Conexpo-Con/Agg Magazine to distribute at the expo.

As expected, the magazine will be showcasing many of Liebherr’s new products. The company also chooses less than a handful of their best customers to spotlight in the magazine. For their anniversary publication, they chose Genesis Environmental Solutions.

“We were thrilled to be featured in this year’s edition of the magazine,” said Shaun Thomas, president of Genesis Environmental Solutions. “Liebherr provides us with a top-of-the-line product that makes our jobs a lot easier.”

The article discusses Genesis’ involvement in the KCI Terminal Modernization project and how Liebherr equipment plays a part in that project. Genesis is one of nine local minority and women-owned businesses that are involved in the demolition of the old terminal and reconstruction of the New Kansas City International Airport.

Genesis was originally chosen by Clark | Weitz | Clarkson (CWC) to cut, cap and make safe the utilities at the old terminal. Since then, CWC has awarded Genesis with additional construction jobs for the KCI project, including GSE unleaded fuel and diesel fuel relocation and fuel tank removals.

US Engineering | Alexander Mechanical awarded Genesis with a project for jet fuel relocation and jet fuel line coatings and repairs. US Engineering also awarded Genesis with an underslab utility excavation job. Kissick Construction chose Genesis to demolish the taxi stand and KCAD maintenance buildings.

All of that additional work requires additional equipment, and that’s where Liebherr comes in. “Nearly 10 Liebherr construction machines were simultaneously in use to tackle these varied tasks,” according to the magazine article.

The article finishes by explaining that, even with the large amount of construction activity at the airport so far, work will actually increase for Genesis by early fall – a challenge they’re prepared for.
